Wednesday night around midnight lives in our county were forever changed. A tornado that swept through Alabama came through our little town. The favorite town of former President Franklin D. Roosevelt, Warm Springs is now peppered with debris, pieces of homes laying around, memories scattered literally in the wind.
Thank the Lord there were no deaths, but many were injured. Jon responded to the 911 calls shortly after midnight. A family trapped under their roof, stuck in the bath tub. Four children trapped in their basement. A hotel full of guests trying to make sense of what had just blown right past them.
Jon said from the top of the mountain you can see the path the tornado took, leaving a 1/2 mile wide mark, a trail for all to see in which direction it went. Trees broken, power lines down, homes gone.
Our little county is declared to be in a state of emergency. The Governor came to see what had happened and has spoken to the President for help.
We went to the basement. We are fine, our family is good. We have a little water damage but nothing else. Please pray for the families of our little town.
I pray that none of you have been affected by this storm, and that your families are all safe as well.

On the left side of this photo below is the elementary school. The tornado ripped off the roof.
This house, photo below, was right beside the school. In the photo above is a house that was on the other side. The tornado completely destroyed this little house while leaving a little bit of the school and another house on either side.

This must leave so many people feeling unsettled, displaced, numb or anxious. Praying for peace.
ReplyDeleteKristina, Thank God you are ok, I have so many blog friends that have been affected by this massive storm.
ReplyDeleteGod bless you and your family, this must be a very unsettling time for you... I will keep you in my prayers. God is in control!
